Privacy
We are a bakery, not an advertising business. Nothing about your visit is measured unless you tell us it may be, and we never sell, rent or trade anything about you.
Reading this site
These pages are ordinary files, built in advance and sent to you as they are. Reading them needs no account and no sign-in, and until you choose otherwise the site sets no cookies and loads nothing from another company, with one exception: the map on our Find Us page, described below.
Like every website, ours has to receive your request before it can answer it. The site is hosted on Cloudflare Pages, which handles that connection and necessarily sees your IP address in doing so. We build nothing on top of that: no profile of you, and no account to sign in to.
There is no visitor database behind this site either: no form here sends anything to us, and no email address is collected anywhere on it.
Measurement: only if you say yes
On your first visit a notice asks whether we may measure how the site is used. Decline it, or press Escape to dismiss it, and nothing is loaded: dismissing counts as a refusal, never as a maybe. Only if you choose to allow it do we load Google Analytics 4, and only from that moment onwards.
- Analytics property
G-66468012- Addresses linked for measurement
www.le-fournil.comle-fournil-to-go.brygid.onlinele-fournil-catering.brygid.online
Ordering finishes on our partner's site rather than here, so those addresses are linked to this one. That is what lets one person who reads a menu here and then places an order be counted once instead of twice. It does not send your order or your payment details back to us: we never see them.
What is recorded once you allow it
These are the events this site sends:
- Which pages were opened, and their titles.
- Clicks on a button that leads to the ordering site, and which of the three it was: to go, catering, or custom cakes.
- Taps on the phone number.
- A completed newsletter signup, which cannot happen today, because the signup form is switched off (see below).
- A sent catering inquiry, which cannot happen today, because the inquiry form is switched off.
Google Analytics also keeps its own record alongside these: a randomly generated visitor id stored in your browser, an approximate location worked out from your network address, and your browser and device type. Depending on the settings on the analytics property, it can also log ordinary browsing actions on its own, such as following a link away from the site or scrolling to the bottom of a page. None of it names you, and none of it reaches us in a form that could.
There is no advertising here. Advertising storage, advertising personalisation and Google's advertising signals are all explicitly switched off in our configuration; no advertising or social-network trackers are loaded at all; and none of this is used to build a profile of you or to follow you to other websites.
What is kept in your browser
Your settings stay on your own device, in the storage your browser keeps for this site. They are never sent to us. Clearing this site's data in your browser removes them.
otterific-preferences- Theme, light or dark mode, font, text size, contrast and reduced motion
otterific-consent- Your answer to the measurement question
otterific-language- The language you chose
otterific-language-offer-dismissed- That you dismissed the offer to switch back to your saved language: this one is cleared when you close the browser
Settings left by our previous website
Our old site saved four settings under different names. We still read them once, so that a returning visitor who had chosen large text or high contrast keeps it. We never write to them and never delete them:
darkModefontSizehighContrastreduceMotion
Our old site also kept your chosen language in a cookie. We read that once too, for the same reason, and never write to it or delete it:
language
If, and only if, you allow measurement, Google Analytics then sets cookies of its own on this site, with names beginning "_ga". Decline, and they are never set.
Ordering happens on another company's site
We take no orders and no payments on this website. Every order button hands you over to our ordering partner, at its own web addresses:
- Ordering partner
- Brygid
- Ordering addresses
le-fournil-to-go.brygid.onlinele-fournil-catering.brygid.online
Once you are there you are on their website, under their privacy policy and their cookies, which we neither control nor can see. Your card details never reach us. If you would rather not use it at all, phone the bakery and we will take your order ourselves.
The map on our Find Us page
That page offers a Google map, behind a button. Nothing is loaded from Google until you choose to load it; when you do, your browser connects to Google, which sees your IP address in order to draw the map, and Google's privacy policy applies from that point. The choice lasts for that page view only: we do not store it, so coming back to the page asks again. The address, the directions link and the phone number on that page all work without ever touching the map.
The wholesale application form
The wholesale page hands applications to a Google Form. If you choose to apply, everything you enter there is collected by Google Forms on the bakery's behalf, under Google's own privacy policy, and none of it is stored by this site.
The page-not-found search
Our page-not-found screen offers a search box as a way back. If you choose to submit it, the words you typed are sent to Google Search (www.google.com) and Google's own privacy policy applies from that point. Nothing is sent while you type, and nothing is sent at all unless you press search: the form is a hand-off, not a tracker.
The newsletter
There is no newsletter signup on this site at the moment. The form is built but switched off, so there is no mailing list and nobody on one. If that changes, this page will say so before the form appears.
Do Not Track and Global Privacy Control
If your browser sends a Global Privacy Control or a Do Not Track signal, we treat it as a refusal: nothing is measured and you are not asked. The signal also wins over an earlier yes: switch it on and measurement stops on that device, without you having to find a setting on our site.
Changing your mind
- Switch on Global Privacy Control in your browser. We read it on every page, and it overrides an earlier yes.
- Or clear this site's stored data in your browser. That removes your recorded answer along with your other settings, and the question is asked again on your next visit.
We would rather be straight with you: there is no button on the site itself yet for changing your answer once it has been recorded. Until there is, either method above works, and we are glad to talk you through it on the phone.
If any of this changes
This page describes the site as it is built today. If we ever begin collecting something that is not described here, this page is updated before that change goes live.
Ask us
Any question about this page, including asking what we hold about you, comes straight to the bakery. We are a small team, and a person reads it.
